Salix integra 'Hakuro Nishiki' (Flamingo Tree) is a very popular and elegant dwarf, weeping Japanese willow tree. As a standard it makes a great specimen plant for the garden or patio and is a popular choice for planting near a pool or stream where its long weeping branches are particularly eye-catching.
- Salix integra 'Hakuro Nishiki'
- Height: about 80-90cm above the soil
- 60cm clear stem
- Spread: about 30-40cm
The Flamingo Tree is truly a plant for all seasons. Slender yellow catkins grace its branches in early spring which then burst into spectacular creamy-pink variegated leaves which last through to the autumn. The leaves drop to reveal graceful orange stems, providing a splash of colour throughout the winter.
This fully hardy shrub is easy to care for and thrives in most soil types and conditions, even heavy clay or moisture retentive soils. Pruning in the spring will ensure an abundant supply of attractive leaves.
